Sabon Gari is a small community of about 750 people is very similar to Kpada which is about 5 km away from Kpada. This community also has a mix of Christians, Muslims and traditional tribesman. It is a farming community that is under-served where residents depend largely on unsafe water sources such as streams, ponds and shallow wells that dry up in the dry season. The water sources expose the villagers to waterborne diseases, poor sanitation and economic hardship.

This project seeks to provide a sustainable, reliable, and environmentally friendly solar powered water supply system. The initiative is designed to improve public health, enhance hygiene and sanitation and reduce the burden on women and children who travel long distances in search of water. Clean, reliable water will help to promote overall community development.

This water well project was completed in June 2026. Currently the well is being used by the Sabon Gari population as well as many close in neighboring villagers. The total cost to implement the Sabon Gari solar water project was $8,216. This was the same quoted price for the water well system at Kpada and both came in on budget.
